Chronos beta

Which systems and formats are supported?
  • macOS 11 or later (Apple Silicon, or Intel with a 2013 Haswell CPU or newer): AU, VST3 and Standalone.
  • Windows (64-bit): the Standalone app for now.
  • Linux (x86-64): VST3 and Standalone.
How do I install it?

macOS (.dmg): open it and drag Chronos.vst3 onto “VST3 Plug-Ins”, Chronos.component onto “AU Plug-Ins (Components)” and Chronos.app onto “Applications”. Then rescan plug-ins in your DAW.

macOS (.zip): copy the same three items into /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3, /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components and /Applications.

Windows: unzip and run Chronos.exe.

Linux: unzip, copy VST3/Chronos.vst3 into ~/.vst3, and run Standalone/Chronos (if it won't start, run chmod +x on it first).

macOS says Chronos is damaged or can't be opened

This beta isn't signed yet, so macOS quarantines it. Notarized builds are coming in a few days. Until then, run this once in Terminal, then rescan plug-ins in your DAW:

sudo xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Chronos.vst3 /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Chronos.component /Applications/Chronos.app

It removes the download flag from those three items only. If you installed them somewhere else, change the paths to match.

Windows says “Windows protected your PC”

SmartScreen warns about new apps that aren't signed yet. Click More info, then Run anyway.

My DAW doesn't show Chronos

Rescan plug-ins after installing (in Logic Pro: Settings → Plug-in Manager → Reset & Rescan Selection). Check that your DAW scans the standard VST3 folder and, on macOS, that you've cleared the quarantine flag as described above.

Is Chronos free?

Yes, during the beta. Pricing for version 1.0 hasn't been set yet, and members hear about it first.

How do I report a bug?

Use the contact form with the topic “Bug report”. Tell us your OS, your DAW and its version, the format (AU, VST3 or Standalone), and the steps that cause the problem.
